Dear Family,
Make sure you tell the missionaries that they better take really good care of my dog mom and dad. The place I live is somewhat in the country and it has lots of trees. I haven't seen any farms yet. The best description for it is a cottage. We do have a car and we use it everyday. Usually the person that drives is the senior companion. So I am just going along for the ride. Depending on what we are doing we will walk.
I got to the mission office like once a week for district meetings (which are a lot of fun). Sometimes we go to the building that is in my area. On thanksgiving we have a brunch appointment, lunch appointment, and two dinner appointments. I feel like I am going to gain weight this thanksgiving. I don't know what we are doing other than eating.
Well the day we were suppose to start the start the stop smoking program with Sister Dobbs she cancelled on us. Then we went to her house on Friday and started it with her and her husband. It is obvious that she is not committed to stopping but she knows that she needs to stop. All we can do is keep encouraging her and praying for her. Her husband is getting baptized on Dec. 14th. He had a stroke a while ago and can't use the right side of his body. We have been praying and fasting that when he gets baptized there will be a miracle and he will be able to walk, etc.
We got a new investigator this week. Her name is Brenda and when we were teaching her the first lesson you could tell that she was really interested in what she was hearing. You could also feel the spirit there to. She has two kinds and we were telling her about the church's youth program and she really liked the sounds of it. She told us that she wanted us to come back and teach her more. She also said that she was going to tell her kids and her husband about the church and that she was going to get her family to join us on the lesson. Speaking of lessons... We didn't even have to ask about the next appointment she set it up herself.
Today we went to mormon hallow (that's why I took a while to write you guys). It was pretty interesting. It involved the 3rd presiding bishop that the church had. I don't remember his full name but I think it had hunter somewhere in it. I think he helped Joseph Smith out with some stuff. There was a building that Mormons and Presbyterians used and Joseph Smith went there to do meeting and stuff. I will have to send you a picture of it.
Yesterday the bishopric asked me to share my testimony. So I shared my testimony and it sounded like a testimony of a champion. One of my companions gave a talk since she is leaving for home soon and she has been serving in Valley Forge for like six months. It was a pretty good talk and I shared my testimony right after her. After church we had a lesson with another new investigator and we feel like we need to extend the commitment to be baptized to her. I will be the one who will be asking her to be baptized.
We started to teach a less active member. He hasn't been to church for like 35 years. My companions went and racked up his leaves. They got him to open up to them and told him that they were getting a golden (my mission doesn't like using the word greedy so they use golden) and needed someone to practice on. He even came to sacrament and listened to my companion speak. Which is really good.
Love, Sister Paige Bluemel
